BCS were excited to receive photographs of a newly-completed project in which more than 105 of our bespoke doors and doorsets were used. Addenbrookes Hospital, located in Cambridge,  now benefit  from a new Orthopaedic Theatres.

Addenbrookes Hospital is a large 880 bed teaching hospital and research centre in Cambridge. It has strong affiliations with The University of Cambridge. Anndenbrookes Hospital is located on the Biomedical Campus. The Hospital was founded in 1766 on Trumpington Street with £4,500 from the will of Dr John Addenbrooke. In 1962 the first building was opened on its present site. The last patient left Trumpington Street in 1984 and the site was then redeveloped.

More than 105 doorsets where installed on this project, each manufactured to the impeccable standards for which BCS are known. Our severe-duty particleboard core was faced with laminate or Oak veneer with  high-impact PVC protection sheets before PVC edge-guards were added.

The following ironmongery was provided, Stainless steel kick plates, Push plates, Fire Discs and locks where fitted with door furniture and closers supplied loose

Vision panels were included in the doors, each was glazed using clear fire rated glass, laminated for extra strength and ease-of-maintenance. Each panel was securely beaded using contrasting Oak hardwood cloaking beads utilising our innovative flush-bead system which will help to prevent damage and extend service life.

Before being carefully transported to site, the hospital doors were secured in pre-primed, hardwood and softwood frames using class 13 satin stainless steel hinges, complete with architraves to facilitate installation.
